unit reflection
As we finished up our last week of Spanish 1 we were asked to reflect on the year. I feel as a Spanish 1 student I learned a lot throughout the year and as I grew as a Spanish speaker. We learned emotions, greetings, weather, activities, numbers, dates, and letters. At the beginning of the year, I knew the basics of Spanish from speaking Spanish in past years. But as the year went on I learned proper grammar and conjugations. I also learned how to speak Spanish more comfortably. We did a lot of projects this year to demonstrate our growth and abilities in Spanish but I feel I was most proud of my end-of-the-year book. I feel like it took the most time and the most refinement and was the project that best demonstrated my ability to speak Spanish. Not everything can always be perfect this year. I feel like I struggled with spelling and conjugation. I feel I tried my best to get better at these aspects but with more time I will get there. Lastly, I would like to keep taking spanish throughout my high school career.
My Writing Progress
Once a month (approximately), we wrote for 10 minutes (timed) using the vocabulary we had been learning in class. Each time, our goal was to grow our word count. Word count does NOT include proper nouns. As a student I felt like I grew each time we wrote one of these stories. Each time my story became more and more advanced and the word count grew! With growth also come struggle when writing these stories i would be writing my story and run into words i didn't know and would have to figure out a way around it. Lastly, i feel like i grew with my spelling and my correct placement of words.
Video Project
In our video projects, we described our families and friends using the verbs “ser” (to be) and “tener” to have. In this project we made a video describing our families. I feel like the hardest part of this project was finding pictures of my family and pets. I felt the most accomplished when I finished my voice over. I think in the future if i were to do this project again i would work in more detail to my story.

Mi Cuento Original “My Original Story” In this end-of-year project, we wrote and illustrated an original story using the vocabulary we learned throughout the year. This was our final project for Spanish one and I feel like one that showed the most knowledge and what we knew as a Spanish speaker. For me the hardest part of this project was coming up with the idea of the story I wanted to write and how it would all play out in the end. But once I came up with an idea I was able to work around the words I didn't know and finish with a story. Lastly, my biggest area of growth was my spelling. I have a lot of corrections that fall under the spelling category. |
